Dental Implants Are the Solution For a Life With a
Smile and Enjoying all the Foods You Love
Are you sick and tired of your smile not looking its best?
Are you sick and tired of missing great meals with your spouse and friends because of your inability to chew the foods you love but cannot eat?
Are you tired of hiding your smile with your hand, or looking away, or smiling with tightly closed lips?
Life is too short to not enjoy it to its fullest. When your teeth require extensive treatment, when you can no longer eat the foods you love like steak, a juicy, crisp apple, when you long for being able to smile without embarrassment or shame, it’s time for a better outcome.
If you are struggling with loose teeth, missing or decayed teeth, dental implants just might be the solution you need.
You no longer want to be seen in public because of your lost smile. Living a life like that is certainly no fun. When teeth are missing, the facial features change.
The jawbone becomes affected as well. Bone density erodes, and that sunken face feature is definitely not attractive at all.
Dental implants are the solution to having and keeping that contagious smile. Dental implants allow you to eat anything you please, knowing that there won’t be any embarrassing moments that dentures present.
If your dental issues cause you to question your happiness and your health, dental implants can make all the difference.
Advantages of Signature Fit Dentures
If you have a big dental problem, at Plaza Dental Group, we can provide you with 2 major problem solutions:
Full-arch dental implants eliminate the gooey mess of denture adhesives, ill-fitting bridgework, and soaking your dentures in a glass while you sleep. You get to enjoy going out with friends to dine in ease, knowing in advance that there can be no embarrassment with slipping dentures. You’ll look and feel as though the smile you flash is yours, not something made in a lab.
Dental implants prevent the face from natural disfigurement when all of the teeth are removed, and a less-than-permanent solution is applied such as dentures. To sum it up, here are some of the main points and advantages of dental implants over dentures:
Dental implants are far more comfortable and secure because of the custom fit to your mouth. They won’t create bone loss or gum shrinkage that would normally be created by loose-fitting dentures.
When it comes to durability, appearance, look and feel, no option available compares. Dental implants are tomorrow’s technology of the mouth available today.
What Exactly are Dental Implants
Think of it this way. Dental implants are your new tooth “roots” that replace those that no longer function. Dental implants are inserted into the jawbone and provide a permanent base for replacement teeth. They are fixed in the near-identical fashion as your real teeth, therefore allowing you full function without worry of facial disfigurement, loose-fitting dentures, or not having teeth at all.
When compared to dentures, implants are far more popular and effective for long-term solutions to missing teeth, chronic dental problems or teeth failure on a mass scale. Full arch (the entire upper or lower teeth) restoration makes more sense today than settling for plastic dentures.
Dental implants function like natural teeth, allowing the patient to enjoy all of the foods that have been off-limits because of the lack of ability to bite and chew properly.
How Dental Implants are Made
Dental implants are made up of three separate parts, beginning with a titanium decay-resistant post. The Signature Fit Smile will attach to the abutment section. The dental implant simulates the root of the replacement tooth which is attached to the jawbone for a tight fit that provides strength, confidence and ease in chewing. It also promotes jaw wellness, as the loss of teeth without replacement allows for significant bone loss.
Fixed Implant Zirconia Bridge
Option 2 - Fixed Implant Zirconia Bridge is an excellent option when patients require both full upper and lower tooth arch replacement. (The main difference that these are fixed teeth so nobody can remove them except the dentist when needed.) This can all be accomplished in a single visit. The main difference is that these teeth are fixed so they cannot be removed except by the dentist when needed. Rather than implanting several teeth here, some natural teeth there, and often a mix and match process, full upper and lower arch restoration makes more sense both economically and health-wise as well. The chances of further deterioration of bone cannot be arrested as long as existing bad teeth remain.
Full Arch Restoration
At Plaza Dental Group we prefer to see our patients select full arch restoration to choose dental implants over dentures for all the reasons previously described.
Our surgeons will place a minimum of four implants in the jawbone, and then attach a full arch of teeth. This is known as all-on-x implants.
While we prefer to add an extra implant or two for even more strength and support, the standard in the industry is to place four implants to support the snap-on denture.
Although the dental field nowadays is going toward only 4 implants to support the final smile structure, we at Plaza Dental Group still believe that should be avoided as much as possible. The simple reason is our goal is to build a structure that could last for decades and adding 1 or 2 more implants will provide extra support, longevity, and more importantly will come in handy if an implant fails down the road. All-on-x systems cannot take any failures as the whole system collapses.
Full restoration with upper and lower arch replacement is not a lengthy procedure, but there is some time required for the implant to firmly embed itself into the jawbone. Once the abutment is placed into the jawbone it will take two-four weeks for the gums to heal, and the abutment securely attached to the jawbone.
If bone grafting is necessary, there will be some healing time involved with this as well. The process is called osseointegration, the functional connection between living bone and the surface of a load-bearing implant. This takes time to heal. The good news is, this mainly applies to single implants but when we do the All-on-x Same Day Smile implants, they could be used immediately as all x implants will support each other during the healing time and they do end up healing better and faster due to the fact that bone heals better under stress.
Advanced Implant Dentistry Features
The dental implant dentists at Plaza Dental Group are experts at the latest and highest quality across the entire State of Iowa. We use the latest tools such as laser imaging, so that every possible angle of the mouth is EXACTLY noted for a truly custom fit. Titanium abutments (the fastener to your bone) creating the new tooth’s root. To be clear, titanium screws are surgically placed in the jaw which serve as the anchor to the new arch of teeth. A noteworthy fact about our titanium implants used in the United States: they must pass the requirements of the Food and Drug Administration.
Plaza Dental Group primarily works on full arch and full mouth restorations with dental implants. While capable of replacing one or two teeth with implants, the overwhelming majority of our patients require a significant amount of dental reconstruction.
Are Dental Implants Right For You
Is your current oral health heading for serious change? Not everyone is a good candidate for dental implants. Depending on your unique circumstances, you may require a full upper arch, or, full mouth (upper and lower arches) restoration.
These simulate your teeth’s roots. When there is sufficient bone strength to hold implants, a minimum of four implants are implanted that will ultimately support the new dental implant teeth.
The easiest way to learn about the strength and density of your jawbone is to take advantage of our free consultation. Our VIP team will review things like your bone density and strength using state-of-the-art technology.
